Tom Holkenborg Launches Season 3 of Studio Time

Tom Holkenborg has earned a reputation as one of the most innovative, forward thinking composers in Hollywood over the past decade. Having scored blockbuster films like Deadpool, Mad Max: Fury Road and Brimstone, the Grammy-nominated former industrial noise and electronic music producer has captivated audiences with his eclectic, wide-ranging scores; redefining what film scores can sound like in the 21st century. In addition to his work in Hollywood, Tom has developed an immensely popular online series Studio Time, that features in-depth tutorials and episodic demonstrations, all available for free on his YouTube channel.

Studio Time Season 3 will primarily showcase Tom’s work on two films: Peter Jackson’s Mortal Engines and the James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez project Alita: Battle Angel, featuring how-to guides and various episodes breaking down specific aspects of the two scores. The first episode, entitled: Writing, Producing, & Mixing a Suite, shows Tom analyze his work on the London Suite from the Mortal Engines score. Episode 2, released today, takes a look at A Hero's Theme: Hester, also from Mortal Engines.

Studio Time has amassed a loyal and devoted following and has proven to be one of the most thorough, well-produced educational online series for those looking to expand their knowledge of film score composition or audio engineering generally. Having captivated a loyal following over the past two seasons, Holkenborg is ready to unveil the third season of Studio Time, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at two of his most ambitious scores yet.

Mortal Engines (produced by Peter Jackson’s production company Wingnut Films) was released in the US on December 14th and Alita: Battle Angel (directed by Robert Rodriguez, produced by James Cameron) is scheduled for a February 14th domestic release.
